Yomego Social Media Reputation Score Ranks eBay as Leading Brand
According to its Social Media Reputation score, Yomego has found eBay to be the leading brand on social media platforms.
MD of Yomego, Steve Richards, said that brands that are popular and talked about by people online are not always the ones to be expected: "Harley-Davidson, for example, has some of the most loyal fans online, ranking it at number 30 in the top 50 social brands... On the other hand, Smirnoff does some fantastic social media work but is really inconsistent, which means it ranks lower than it could."
The study results are calculated using monitoring tools by Alterian - the scoring system measures how many people are talking about a company plus whether what's being said is positive or negative. It then adds a 'recency' score to judge how topical the ratings are and thereafter uses human analysis for interpretation to give each company an overall mark out of 100.
Overall, eBay, Apple, Google, BlackBerry and Amazon are the top five performing brands in a list of 50. This contrasts with the score findings of the Interbrand Top 100 Brands listing.
