Yahoo Announces Its Optimism for 2010

Internet major player Yahoo expects to post its first revenue increase in six quarters for the first three months of 2010, after seeing demand for premium display advertising improve "significantly" in the final quarter of 2009.

Carol Bartz, CEO of Yahoo, said "Our business has positive momentum and we feel good as we head into 2010."

While their revenues declined 4% year on year in the fourth quarter and dipped 10% to $6.5bn (£4.02bn) for the full year, Yahoo has however been introducing strong steps in new growth during the last few months of 2009.

In September Yahoo launched the £60m It's You campaign, which aims to position itself as a one-stop shop for people's online needs.

In December it concluded the terms of its Search and Advertising Services & Sales Agreement with Microsoft - the two companies have partnered with the intent of competing with Google, which dominates the search marketplace.
