Visa Marketing Campaign to Raise Profiles of UK's Athletes in 2012 Olympic Games

Visa is to launch an 18 month marketing strategy, starting in February, to raise the profile of Britain's Olympic athletes in the 2012 Games.

As the presenting partner of Team 2012, Visa aims to significantly boost public awareness of lesser known British athletes and their events.

Head of Partnership Marketing at Visa Europe, Colin Grannell, commented: "The goal is to make the team famous, to make some of the individuals much higher-profile." He said that Visa will "push as hard as we possibly can" in its 2012 promotional activity, targeting "every household" and "as many retailers as we can".

The campaign will include online as well as traditional advertising, social media and point-of-sale marketing. The creative work for this is at present still being finalised.

Visa will also hold UK competitions where the winners will have an opportunity to meet and train with athletes in the run-up to the Olympic Games. Further competitions held in Visa's other 34 European markets will provide winners with tickets to London for the event.
