Virgin Media Rolls Out Major Marketing Restructure

Virgin Media is undergoing a revamp of its marketing structure with the aim of integrating every consumer touch point under one team which will bridge customer insight and other departments alongside brand and marketing.

The company are creating "Customer Marketing Organisation" department, headed by the Executive Director of Brand and Marketing Communications and led by recently appointed Chief Marketing Officer Nigel Gilbert.

The team leader role has been allocated to the previous Director of Brand and Marketing and Executive Creative Director for the former Virgin Media Television (VMtv) channels, Jeff Dodds.

A Virgin Media spokesman has said that previously brand and marketing had been "quite a siloed operation" and they will rectify this separation in order to "put the customer front and centre."

He also added that they will include some of their existing internal communications team into the new department since many of Virgin Media's 12,500 staff are customer facing and they need to be integral to the development of consistent brand positioning.

Virgin Media hopes to further boost its success - 2010 was celebrated as their "best year ever", with reported annual revenue up 5.8% year on year and a rise in average revenue per user of 4.9%.
