The Times and Sunday Times To Start Charging For Online Content from June

A new paywall will see access to The Times and Sunday Times online content charged at £1 for a day or £2 for a weekly subscription. Weekly subscription will provide users with access to digital editions and new applications.

They two titles are also set to split sites in early May. News International has announced they will launch separate websites to split their digital presence for the first time, replacing the existing Times Online.

CEO of News International, Rebekah Brooks, said, "The new sites, and the apps that will enhance the experience, reflect the identity of our titles and deliver a terrific experience for readers. We expect to attract a growing base of loyal customers who are committed and engaged with our titles. We're building on the excellence of our newspapers and offering digital access to our journalism at a price that everyone can afford."

The Times and The Sunday Times are the first of four News International titles in the UK to move to this new paid approach.
