Sky Sports Unveils High Definition Champions League Broadcasting Website

Satellite broadcaster Sky Sports has unveiled a new video-on-demand website dedicated to showing Champions League football matches.

Named 'Sports Event Centre', the service has been launched in preparation for the UEFA's Champions League quarter finals in April.

Sky Sports worked with digital services firm Deltatre's DIVA to create the site, which will be available to Sky subscribers.

Head of Sky Sports Networked Media, Dave Cameron, commented: "At Sky Sports, we are constantly looking for cutting-edge technologies that help us provide the best in sports coverage across all of our digital platforms. Using the Diva product to power our Sky Sports Event Centre helps us to achieve these goals and continues our successful relationship with Deltatre."

The Sports Event Centre site will show all football matches in HD. Viewer will also be able to pause and re-play footage in slow-motion. In addition, it will also broadcast additional information including match and player stats plus related match videos.

This latest launch by Sky follows the introduction of a Sky News iPad app last week, which will also be available free of charge to subscribers.
