New Met Police Website Reaches Out To Young People

A new site called Safe has been launched by the Metropolitan Police to engage with the younger generation for the first time ever. It targets the 11-16 age groups and encourages them to learn more about safety, crime and policing activities that tackle such issues as alcohol abuse, drugs, bullying, knife crime and gangs.

The site was developed in conjunction with MediaCom Create, a division of MediaCom Beyond Advertising. Their Real World Insight team completed the background research for the youth focussed project.

Adrian Hanstock, the Met Chief Superintendant who oversaw the initiative, commented, "Safe is a website designed in partnership with young people for young people. They're big users of the internet and consume a lot of information online so we need a presence in that space... Our research shows there's demand from young people for information about crime and policing that's accessible and engaging. We believe Safe provides that."

The website, safe.met.police.uk, will also supply relevant advice and links to third-party support organisations.
