Lib-Dems Launch Guerilla Marketing Campaign
The Liberal Democrats have partnered with media agency Iris to launch an online 'unbranded guerrilla marketing' campaign which will aim at undermining the messages of the Conservatives and Labour parties.
The campaign will run on social media pages Facebook and YouTube, as well as a two-minute video hosted at www.labservative.com. It will consist of a mock 'Labservative' candidate attempting to canvass voters. It will also include a Twitter page of a mock Labservative candidate under the username Gorvid Camerown.
Executive Creative Director of Iris, Shaun McIlrath, said, "The Labservative idea has been designed around a real consumer truth: that the vast majority of the electorate find Labour and Conservative MPs and their policies almost indistinguishable."
This lampooning of traditional campaigns is a bid to target undecided voters ahead of the General Election. There is increasing interest in online channels to tap into the demographic of voters who are apathetic to voting, or who find the political messages unclear - in particular the younger generation.
