Johnston Press to Grow Digital Ad Revenue with Rich-Media and Video Strategy

In a bid to boost its digital ad revenue, publisher Johnston Press have now signed a three year contract to include automated video and rich-media advertising within their online commercial offerings.

Using their new Localstars platform, the company and their 273 regional newspaper websites will be able to offer a video and rich-media production service without the need for any major costs.

The Localstars system will allow their sales team to assemble rich media and video advertising in minutes rather than days, thanks to the use of archive elements and stock footage libraries.

It will also facilitate content creation and uploading on the fly to better meet the requirements of their clients and advertisers.

The Localstars system was first piloted in test regions in 2009 and is now being rolled out across the UK at large.

Localstars MD, Chris Bunyan, commented: "The aim of the game is to basically help Johnston Press sell more high-quality digital ads at a significantly lower cost base."
