John Lewis Latest Big Brand to Expand Lucrative Click & Collect Service

In a further move supporting its £1bn online programme, the John Lewis Partnership retail group has announced it will expand its Click & Collect service to an additional 60 Waitrose stores.

Since last year, the company has been boosting its multi-channel sales with the enhancement of their Click & Collect feature, where customers can choose their items online and collect them at selected stores.

This strategy follows recent research which demonstrates that multi-channel customers spend more than those who shop using only one channel.

The extra 60 Waitrose stores taking part in the program represent a doubling of store collection points. They will be added over the next two months, bringing the total number of Waitrose Click & Collect outlets to 119.

This type of service is becoming increasingly popular. Earlier this month, Subway launched its first 'Click and Collect' for mobile users in the US and will be launching it in the UK later this year or early in 2012, while in May Sainsbury's announced plans to double the size of their similar service.
