Google and Citizens Advice Bureau Launch Online Safety Campaign
Google has now partnered with the Citizens Advice Bureau to create a campaign to better educate the public about managing and sharing information safely online.
The campaign will focus around a website, google.co.uk/goodtoknow, which will house a comprehensive guide on how to keep personal data secure online, including tips on creating passwords and protecting children as well as information about cookies and online data tracking.
Furthermore, the campaign will see ads displayed across the UK in newspapers, on public transport and online, which will feature top advice from the website.
Google Communications and Policy Manager, Anthony House, commented: "Everyone wants to stay safe online, but many people aren't confident that they know how to. We're launching the Good to Know campaign and website to provide easy steps everyone can take."
This latest move comes a week after the Government met with the online industry to discuss plans to help protect children more effectively online. Proposals included a central point for parents to find information and report inappropriate content as well as a pledge from brands not to use under 16s as brand ambassadors or in peer-to-peer marketing.
