European Business Executives Give Highest Rating to Google for News
The most recent Business Elite Europe survey by Ipsos MediaCT has shown that Google News is the most popular site for information among business executives in Europe.
Despite Google's official positioning as a tool to drive traffic to dedicated news sites, Google News in fact has the highest reach at 30% of the 453,353 business executives surveyed.
The BBC came in second with a monthly reach of 22.7%, The FT followed with 15.4%, CNN with 9.6% and Sky News with 9.4%.
The survey looked at 17 countries including the UK, Ireland, Italy, France, Germany, Greece, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the Netherlands. More than half of the people who took part, 60%, were 'C-suite', including COO and CEO positions, with an average salary of €152,000.
The report also demonstrated that business executives are continuing to adopt new media, with 46% having a presence on Facebook and 41% on LinkedIn. In total, 72% now obtain media content online monthly (up from 63% in 2008), 95% still read print and 85% watch TV daily for news.
