ESPN's Ashes Online Coverage to Be Sponsored By Glenfiddich Whiskey Brand

The Glenfiddich whisky brand has been appointed as exclusive sponsor of the Ashes coverage on cricket website ESPN. This online partnership is designed to attract web users to the Ashes pages on ESPN Cricinfo.

Director of Ad Sales for ESPN EMEA, Alan Fagan, commented, "ESPN Cricinfo offers vanguard brands like Glenfiddich a high-quality, interactive and immersive connection to those Ashes fans."

Last month Cricinfo was reported to receive almost 8m unique users who in total spent 230m minutes on the site.

As part of the deal, ESPN will promote their new sponsorship partner using banner and display ads featuring the William Grant 7amp; Sons whisky brand on its Ashes coverage.

Mr Fagan also said ESPN that would aim to strike similar deals with brands in preparation for next year's ICC cricket World Cup.

ESPN has been looking to expand and strengthen their partnerships with brands by streamlining their display ad inventory this year - earlier this month they revamped their Soccernet pages for a similar sponsorship deal with Sony Ericsson.
