Department Store John Lewis to Introduce 'Made in UK' Logo
Following the "Made in Britain" logo being introduced earlier this year to encourage UK businesses to promote local fare, department store John Lewis is the latest UK brand to take the campaign on board.
The company is planning to include a "Made in UK" logo on a range of products made by 130 British manufacturers, showing the public that up to 90% of certain label ranges it carries are made in the UK. These include its carpets and the recently launched John Lewis & Co. menswear range.
Head of Brand Development at John Lewis, Christine Kasoulis, commented: "The reason for doing this now is that there's a feeling that businesses should be doing more to support UK manufacturing."
The move to highlight their British heritage will not only demonstrate to consumers that it supports the local economy, they will also tap into the nation's patriotism in the run up to the Olympics.
John Lewis is the official department store partner of the Olympics and has dedicated London 2012 stores in its Oxford Street and new Stratford outlets that sell branded merchandise celebrating the Games.
